Project Period: January 2020 to December 2025 (3rd phase running, 2026-2028)
Project Area: 15 Villages of Gabura Union, Shyamnagar, Satkhira
Donor: North American Bangladeshi Islamic Community (NABIC)

Project Goal and Objectives:

Goal:
To ensure primary healthcare to all marginalized and vulnerable people, especially pregnant mothers and children in Gabura union who were affected by cyclone Aila and Sidr.

Objective:
1) Reducing infant mortality.
2) Prevent child malnutrition.
3) Improving quality of life by increasing social awareness about health.

Healthcare Service:
Considering the social and geographical conditions of Gabura, two health care centers are operated, one of which is a stationary clinic and one is a floating health care (trawler).

The stationary and floating clinics are staffed by a general doctor 6 times a month and a gynecologist 2 times a month. An experienced nurse is present at the clinic 24/7. She provides five days of primary healthcare to the vulnerable people of Gabura. In addition, mobile healthcare unit works regularly to identify high-risk pregnant and lactating mothers and malnourished children.

A large trawler is used to provide floating healthcare. It is a floating clinic. It provides healthcare by moving around Gabura. It carries medical teams from village to village along with medicines and first aid facilities. It is also used as a 'water ambulance' for emergency patients, especially mothers. The floating clinic provides medical services at different locations on specific days. Health workers work to bring patients from the villages.

Online Healthcare:
In addition, in special cases, specialist doctors from different parts of the country are taken online for the treatment of children and mothers. In emergency situations, trawlers carry emergency patients so that they can easily go to the hospital.
