Project strategies and activities:
Strategies:
Our work, aimed to build (1) bridges between cultures and (2) village based defence of the most vulnerable segment of the population – cutting across class, gender and ethnicity.
Our first strategyis to make the ‘majority and the able’ take greater responsibility for the protection of the ‘minority and the vulnerable’. Secondly, select equal number of village girls and boys from marginal families to form youth action groups or Gono Gobeshok who facilitate community vigil.
1. Activities:
Access to services (safety net) -
Form youth groups and advisory committees of village elders and sensitize them on project goals and objectives;
Build capacity of the ethnic youth groups and the village civil society on various safety net programs, the laws and entitlements to defend their rights, for land, sanitization, water, HR, VAWC, participatory skills and community mobilization.
Community dialogues are held in the UP/UZ level and also among the EP communities themselves regarding safety net, community health & sanitation, Child marriage, dowry VAW and agriculture to give them a voice in UP/UZ administration level;
Discriminations would be publicly disapproved by commencing UP level rally and mass gathering; To ensure quality primary education and 100% enrolment, teachers training, pre-school programs and house hold school campaigns are run.
2.Reduce violence against women -
MJF Campaign for Equality through Dignity, gender training to EP community and groups; Formation of special committees - to watch over VAW, CM, dowry, school management, violence and substance use etc. - which intervenes to contain. UP & UZ level gatherings are held for dialogue, legal recourse and compensation to the victims.
3.Restore and preserve EP tradition and culture -
Preservation of EP Culture and tradition through organizing fairs, exhibitions – showcasing theirproducts, artefact, items used in EP lifestyle to sensitize the mainstream people; hold workshop and seminars on EP Culture for awareness building and celebrate Indigenous festivals with the whole village;Ethnic cultural groups are encouraged to preserve their performing arts.
4.EP and PWD are organized into income and livelihood groups -
Savings and cooperative groups are formed for IGA and livelihood groups of EP and women who are trained to develop their skills to be self-reliant. This training would be provided by the project and Government institutions and primarily would be on organic agriculture and farming. Money management training, workshop on marketing and value chain of agro-products and financial support to possible entrepreneurs are provided for running self-sustained businesses i.e. In agriculture (15), horticulture (15), fisheries (15), livestock (15), tailoring (20), ICT (40).
